Gain scores will be calculated by subtracting the pretest score from the posttest score (Post – Pre).  A positive value indicates that the posttest is higher than the pretest score, while zero indicates the scores are the same and a negative score indicates that the posttest score is lower than the pretest score.  All three outcomes are possible.
