When giving tests in WebXam, it is required that the entire test must be given in one session. Each question should take an average of a minute per question, and with approximately 40-60 minutes per class period, completion of the test in one session should occur with only some minor exceptions:
- Test interruptions (fire drill, emergency evacuation, threats, etc.)
- Sudden student illness
- IEPs or 504s that allow for unlimited time when field-testing
If you think there is a risk of not having enough time in one session, ask your administrator or guidance counselor to allow for an extended class period to complete the exam.
Some things to consider:
- The safety of students and test administrators is of utmost importance. Please adhere to the school procedures to follow in the event of an interruption depend on the nature of the interruption. Do NOT make the students continue to take the test in violation of the policy.
- Under no circumstances should students be permitted to leave the room with test materials if they have not completed the exam. If possible, the test administrator should collect all test materials and keep them secure for the duration of the interruption or until the test can resume.
- The testing session should be resumed as soon as possible, ideally in the same school day. Allowing for a day to pass between the exam creates insecurity in testing.
- Students will be allowed whatever time remains of the testing session through the Saved Test feature of WebXam.
