What should be done the day of the test?

Administrators/Teachers: Conducting a WebXam online test involves activating student accounts, arranging the testing environment, and proctoring the test.

Please review the Test Security Rulebook for additional information

Students: WebXam online testing involves taking and navigating through the assessment. This section of the WebXam User’s Guide provides information for administrators, teachers, and students.

The day of testing, the District Test Coordinator, designated Administrator, or Teacher should do the following:

  1. Make sure the internet is working properly.
  2. Do a review of the testing room for security issues. Have scratch paper and calculators available. Following the test, scratch paper should be collected and destroyed.
  3. If you have students with “a reader is required” accommodation and are using text-to-speech, make sure there are headphones and that you open the test in a supported browser (see our hardware requirements). If a student does not have an accommodation listed in their student profile, they will not be able to use the text-to-speech feature.
  4. The activation window lasts for one hour. This window gives the student time to get seated, login to webxam.org, and click the “Take Now” button. This can be repeated if time runs out before the student logs in. Once the student starts testing the full allowed time for the test is available.

When the student submits the test, scores for all tests taken will be shown to the student including results for previous tests taken. The student’s teacher or administrator will be able to reproduce this score report using the WebXam reporting functions.

Things to note while preparing your testing session:

  1. If the student’s name does not appear for activation:
    • Make sure the student’s account is enabled.
    • Make sure the test is assigned to the student’s account.
    • Make sure the student has not already started testing in a previous session.  Check the “Saved Tests” area in test activation if needed.
  2. Read the proctoring instructions to the students to emphasize test security.
  3. Have students login to take the test. The first time they will be asked to agree to WebXam’s User Agreement Statement.
  4. The system will keep track of the time.
  5. Tell students to only hit the submit button when they are finished taking the test. Once submit has been entered, students will receive their scores immediately. They may not retake the test during the current school year.
