Students completing WebXam Assessments aligned to subject codes that include the opportunity to earn college credit Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs) are asked, upon completion of the assessment, whether they authorize Ohio Public Colleges and Universities to post credit to their college transcript.
This acknowledgment is one part of ensuring students receive the college credit they have earned. Another part is that the school must report the student’s completion of the course through EMIS.
Schools can offer students the opportunity to review and update these authorizations for tests taken within the current school year via the “CTAG Testing and Acknowledgment Report” in WebXam.
Teachers and proctors are encouraged to share the following information with students prior to testing
At the end of this assessment, you will be asked whether you authorize Ohio Public Colleges and Universities, to which you apply, to post credit to your college transcript upon enrollment. Granting permission now simplifies the process of receiving college credit when completing the aligned career-technical course and attaining proficiency on this test.
Please read the information presented carefully and make a selection.
- Yes, I authorize the Ohio public college or university to post credit on my transcript
- No, I do not authorize the Ohio public college or university to post credit on my transcript
The request for data-sharing that students see reads as follows
“The WebXam you have just completed is associated with one of Ohio’s Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs) and carries the opportunity for college credit. Please read the information below and provide an answer regarding the award of transfer credit at Ohio’s public colleges and universities.
CTAGs allow students who successfully complete secondary career-technical education courses, and who earn a proficient or greater score on the corresponding WebXam, the opportunity to earn college credit. A joint initiative between the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Higher Education allows the information needed to transfer credit for students to be shared electronically with Ohio’s public colleges and universities.
Only passing scores students earn on WebXam assessments will be shared with Ohio public colleges and universities, and only the schools to which a student has applied will have access to the score(s).
Prior to awarding college credit, students are required to grant permission to the college or university they plan to attend. The transfer credit will then be posted to the transcript.
Do you grant permission to Ohio public colleges and universities to post credit associated with the completed WebXam to your transcript if you have applied and intend to enroll at the institution?”
Students may answer either:
“Yes, I authorize the Ohio public college or university to post credit on my transcript”
Or
“No, I do not authorize the Ohio public college or university to post credit on my transcript”
